US mother-daughter pair lauded, remembered at memroial

American mother-daughter duo Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher have been remembered at a memorial in the US.

American mother-daughter actresses Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher who died just a day apart have been lauded at a memorial service in the US.

The memorial was attended by over 1,200 family members, friends and fans who paid tribute to the iconic mother-daughter pair.

According to media reports, the 90-minute ceremony showed montages of Reynolds’ and Fisher’s careers.

Fisher passed away on Dec 27, 2016 at the age of 60 following a heart attack. The next day, her mother Reynolds who didn't seem to cope well with the death of her daughter died at 84.  

Debbie is best known for her acting role in the film ‘Singin' in the Rain’ (1952). Carrie Fisher played Princess Leia in the legendary film series 'Star Wars'.

The event was hosted by Reynolds’ son and Fisher’s brother, Todd Fisher.

“When Carrie died, my mother decided to change her plans a bit,” Todd told the audience at the memorial, adding, “My mother always said to me, ‘I never want to go to my daughter’s funeral service. I would like to be buried with Carrie.’ … It was a beautiful exit” for her.
